In Holland we booked a cabin-tour through Scandinavia. The red points on the map are the places where we stay overnight. But we booked 4 more nights, two before the trip (in Denmark and Sweden) and two extra after the trip (in Denmark).
It is a nice and long journey and we almost never stay in one place more than one night. But probably we won't have much time for cities like Stockholm, Helsinki and Oslo. We have booked already, but the next time we would have rather planned an itinerary ourselves.
At the end we had driven 11,267 kilometers! June, 15 678 km. Groningen - Øksendrup (Denmark). A visit to Odense (house of H.C. Andersen), driving around on Funen. June, 16 477 km. Øksendrup - Jälluntofta (Sweden). A walk through Copenhagen and Malmö. Our first log cabin. June, 17 574 km. Jälluntofta - Nyköping. Via Jönköping, along the Vättermeer (Habo-cathedral), via Tiveden national park to Nyköping. June, 18 130 km. Nyköping - Viking Line, Stockholm. Via the village Trosa to Stockholm (centre, Skansen, tourt). At night we embark a ship of Viking Line for the crossing to Finland. June, 19 235 km. Turku - Helsinki (Finland). In the morning we arrive at Turku. Via some byroads (castle ruin) we drive to Helsinki. June, 20 376 km. Helsinki - Jyväskylä. A trip through the extensive woods of Finland. Via Heinola (a walk). June, 21 476 km. Jyväskylä - Oulu. More woods. We take a motel instead of a log cabin. June, 22 572 km. Oulu - Tornio. A sparsely populated area, beautiful landscapes. And a visit to Luleå, Sweden. June, 23 515 km. Tornio - Ivalo. To Rovaniemi, capital of Finnishs Lapland and we will pass the polar circle. June, 24 602 km. Ivalo - Honningsvåg (Norway). North-Finland, then via Karasjok to the North Cape. Many tunnels and we decide to stay only one day. June, 25 412 km. Honningsvåg - Alta. Via Hammerfest to Alta. Prehistoric rock drawings at Alta. June, 26 413 km. Alta. Searching for the famous canyon near Alta, but in vain. June, 27 457 km. Alta - Krokelvdalen. Via Tromsö and the Ice Sea cathedral. June, 28 446 km. Krokelvdalen - Sortland. With the ferry to Senja. Troll park. June, 29 283 km. Sortland - Laukvik. With the ferry from Melbu to Fiskebøl on the Lofoten. Many small roads. June, 30 407 km. Laukvik. We drive the Lofoten from north to south, until Å (shortest place name in the world). Many nice villages and panoramic views. Vikingmuseum at Borg. July, 1 329 km. Laukvik - Fauske. With the ferry over the Vestfjord. To the Saltstraum, the strongest maelstrom of the world. July, 2 539 km. Fauske - Namsos. Again we pass the polar circle. At Mo i Rama a visit to the Gronliga grot. July, 3 391 km. Namsos - Oppdal. A visit to Trondheim. July, 4 409 km. Oppdal - Loen. Throught the Dovrefjell National Park. Stave churches, road 258, Geiranger fjord. Wonderful! July, 5 406 km. Loen - Øvre Årdal. With a big detour to a waterfall of 218 meters; twice we cross the de Sognefjord, the deepest and longest of the world. July, 6 378 km. Øvre Årdal - Skarnes. A visit to Oslo. July, 7 934 km. Skarnes - Bredsten (Denmark). We leave Norway and Sweden. July, 8 270 km. An extra day in Denmark: safaripark Givskud, Billung, runestone at Jelling, Århus. July, 9 558 km. Bredsten - Groningen. The last drive; entering Holland it starts to rain.
