France: travelogue summer 2006
We come to France more often but this year we make a longer trip, almost 4 weeks. France is a big country and offers so many different landscapes, culture and history that a few weeks are actually far too few. Via the Massif Central we head south to Carcassonne and then back via Monaco along the west side of France. It is a beautiful trip.
We leave for France, to Vezelay and then the Auvergne
To Vulcania and the Puy de Dôme
Driving around Clermont-Ferrand
To the Monts Dore (zouthwest of Clermont)
Through the Tarn gorge
The famous bridge near Millau
Chaos de Montpellier-le-Vieux and Gorges de la Jonte
Aven Armand and a long trip
To the north, Gorges de la Truyere
Via Albi to the mediterranean coast near Narbonne
To Gruissan and Narbonne
To the fortress of Carcassonne and castles of Cathars
To Tautavel and the Corbières (and the garage)
Via the Gorges de l'Ardeche to the Alps
We follow a fossile route from Digne-les-Bains
Through the Gorges du Verdon, the Grand Canyon of France
A visit to the Cote d'Azur and Monaco
A quiet day near Lac de Castillon
