Gambia: travelogue January 2005

We wanted to escape the cold weather in the Netherlands and also go to a new destination. So we ended up in Gambia with a trip to Senegal. We found it a relaxed country with a friendly population. But democracy is still not very powerful and there is still a lot of corruption. Gambia also struggles with violations of human rights, though we only found that out later, otherwise we might not have gone.
Although it was pleasantly warm, we unfortunately did not see the sun.
