Puzzle of A flat tire

In a totally deserted area, 10 kilometers from the nearest village we get a flat tire and we do not have a spare tire. The repair kit does not work and it is Sunday afternoon. When we are in the deserted village, the pub just opens, and after difficult communications with the AA we are towed away hours later.
