A piece of a column, Olympia

Most of the columns in Olympia have fallen and it is clear from up close how impressive they must have been, the diameter of this piece of column is larger than Elisabeth. The temple of Zeus was, according to Pausanius, over 20 meters high, 29 wide and 70 meters long. And the roof was made of very thin discs of marble, so thin that the sun could shine through.
