Scotland: travelogue March 2003
Also this year we fly to Scotland and rent a car. This time we have a very special accommodation, the gatekeeper's house of Ardverikie Castle, a castle in itself. Gate lodges or gatekeeper houses are smaller and more intimate and we often find them nicer than the larger castles themselves. If you want to stay in such a gatelodge yourself, nowadays you have to book more than a year in advance and it has become quite expensive.
The journey to our castle at Arverikie Estate near Loch Laggan
The Nevis Range and a trip to the west coast: Glenelg and Plockton
Via Aberdeenshire to Beauly, Strathglass
A trip to the north: Loch Shin, Sutherland
We say goodbye to Beauly, onto Kinloch Rannoch
