Scotland: travelogue spring 2007

We are going to Scotland for 2.5 weeks this spring and this time we are taking the boat from IJmuiden to Newcastle. We start in The Borders, a region that surprises us, it is not so well known by tourists but incredibly beautiful, and then we explore the northern Highlands above Inverness. The journey starts rather wet but at the end we experience a real heat wave; Teije, who has lived in Africa for years, burns on the beach of Ayr for the first time in his life.
Going to Scotland, through the Borders
From Stirling to Beauly
To Helmsdale, a very wet day
To Thurso in the north of the Highlands
Along the north coast of Caithness
Caithness, south of Thurso
Along the northwest coast of Scotland, Sutherland
Going back to Beauly and a tour through Speyside
Driving through the Wester Ross
To the Black Isle but we see no dolphins
It is 30 degress whne we drive south
To Ayrshire and Dumfries
Getting sunburned on the beach of Girvan
