Brodie Castle

There are many, many castles in Scotland, according to some sources 3,000!
For a list of over 300 castles, click here.
We also have a clickable castle map of Scotland where you can see which castles we visited!
Brodie Castle Brodie CastleCastle Brodie lies in a beautiful park of gardens and woodlands, nice for a walk. The castle was probably build around 1560, although the Brodie family owned the estate then already for a couple of centuries. had het land toen al honderden jaren in haar bezit. In 1645 the castle was heavily damaged by fire, but from 1730 restored again. In the 1970's the 25th earl of Brodie gave the castle to the NTS (National Trust of Scotland) since the costs to maintain the building became too high.
Inside the castle there is a display of paintings (among them Dutch masters from the 17th and 18th century) and lots of porcelain. Unfortunately the castle was closed when we visited (open from sunday to thursday).
