For a list of over 300 castles, click here.
We also have a clickable castle map of Scotland where you can see which castles we visited!
Inverness Castle Inverness CastleInverness Castle was built in 1835 on the site of an earlier fortress. It stands on a low cliff overlooking the River Ness and the cathedral on the opposite bank. It is thought that 11th-century castle which featured in Shakepeare's play Macbeth was in fact located to the east of the present castle. Now the castle is the Sherriff's Court. There is a small exhibition. A next time we should take a look at the inside of the castle.
