Lochindorb CastleBarely recognisable as a castle, this ruin on an island in Lochindorb. The ruin lies on the east side of the Loch and can only be reached by boat. Until the 18th century the castle remained failry intact with 7 meters high towers.
The name Lochindorb is supposed to be from the Gaelic and mean something like 'Lake of troubles'. And this neighbourhood certainly had some trouble when the infamous Wolf of Badenach, Alexander Stewart, lived in the area in the 14th terrorising the people. He had no problems murdering his own subjects or raping women.
